Brentwood 24
Independence 5
Fri, March 13, 2009
The Brumbies took the field Friday night in horrible conditions at Crockett park. From the start we were controlling possession but would knock on or throw an errant pass that would erase any positive play. In fact, we were inside Independence 22 for much of the first half. Also we committed many minor blunders that caused us to not put points on the board such as throw away our line-outs or poorly kick away our touch. Score at half 0-0.
Things changed in the second half as we tightened up our backline and hammered away with our rockets. Our fitness and determination wore Independence down and we put together some nice scores. The front row was strong in the scrums and Matt Walters was excellent in containing their number 8. Score 25-5 in the second half.

Father Ryan 19
It was a hard fought game with Father Ryan. As they played hard, we mostly beat ourselves and had to play catch up. We committed 5 unanswered penaltes and were down 12-0 in the first 10 minutes. We played chase the ball mostly and gave up a weak try in the closing minutes. We played some new players and realized our weaknesses. Decent overall performance but we have a lot of work to do. Looking forward to Nash Bash.
Man of the Match (A side) - Matt Wyatt, for his strong runs and hard work at the breakdowns.
Man of the Match (B side) - Cullen Hartness and Dylan Lott, for keeping us steady at the 9.
